I just got home from the show... John was AMAZING he did such a great job. He really had it down pat. The disappointment?? No, not in John, just that I didnt get any pics. No flash photo during the show, and they didnt come out at intermission arghhhhhhhh!! Im so ticked at that, but oh well Im not gonna complain too much because John was worth the time and money, I'd deffinatly see him again. Bruce and Larry did ok too, but nowhere near as good as John.

Paul McCartney's Buddy Holly Story DVD [19 Apr 2005|02:33pm]

hey guys... I thought some of you may be interested in this, if you haven't seen it.

DVD Pacific are selling "The Real Buddy Holly Story" DVD for $8.80 (US). If you haven't seen this, you're in for a real treat. It's a great documentary with some really rare footage of Buddy, and interviews with the Crickets, Vi Petty, Tommy Allsup, Buddy's brothers, and more.

here's the blurb..

The Real Buddy Holly Story is the definitive story of the "undisputed father of rock music", Buddy Holly. Produced and hosted by former Beatle, Paul McCartney, this brilliant and enlightening program is the most authoritative biography ever assembled on the life of the American pop icon, and contains rare film clips, unreleased performance footage and features interviews with McCartney, Keith Richards, Phil and Don Everly, Sonny Curtis, Jerry Allison and more.

Paul McCartney guides us through stories and songs of the legendary hit-maker and the tremendous influence that he had on popular music. Rare performance footage includes Buddy Holly performing That'll be the Day and Oh Boy, McCartney performing Holly's immortal Words Of Love and The Rolling Stones performing Not Fade Away.

Buddy Holly was a man of humble beginnings who was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. In just eighteen months he recorded 9 top ten hits and his sound continues to influence generations of musicians and songwriters. His genius came early, but his voice was forever silenced on February 3rd, 1959, when he was killed in a tragic airplane crash along with Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper - a day in history that has become known as "the day the music died." The death of Buddy Holly has left a void in the rock music world that has never been filled to this day.

The Real Buddy Holly Story is a celebration of the life of a true American idol.

if that sort of thing sounds like it floats your boat (and i'm assuming it does if you're reading this community) then you really should get it!

hi folks. i've made a few comments in this community before, but i figured i'd actually get off my arse and join and introduce myself. so here goes..

hi! my name is mark, i am 21, and i live in norwich, england. i've been a buddy fan for probably the last five years or so, ever since i borrowed a greatest hits CD my parents bought. i kind of forgot to give it back..

so, yeah. i'm a big fan of buddy's music. i have a lot of the unreleased/bootleg material, and some books, the buddy holly story movie DVD, the paul mccartney buddy holly story DVD, and some other things. i'm currently saving up to buy a sunburst fender stratocaster just like buddy's.

in conclusion.. hi everyone!

Hi, I'm kind of new, I've never posted in this community before. But I've been a member of it for a while. I love Buddy Holly! I saw the Buddy play when I was a freshman in high school (2001). It's sad that it won't be around anymore. And, I have The Buddy Holly Story on DVD, that I got for only $5.50! I was wondering if anybody had any Buddy Holly icons for me to save for future use?

One more thing: Happy 65th birthday to Jerry Allison! (He's one of the Cricket members)
